Egypt has been confirmed as the host of the 2026 Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Beach Volleyball Continental Senior Championships, with the tournament also serving as a qualification event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The continental championship will be held in Alexandria from August 17 to 23, bringing together Africa's leading men's and women's beach volleyball teams to compete for continental honours and valuable Olympic qualification points.

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) announced on Wednesday that the Egypt Volleyball Federation had been awarded the hosting rights following the successful completion of the zonal qualifying tournaments.

As one of the premier events on Africa's volleyball calendar, the championship is expected to showcase the continent's finest beach volleyball talent in a week-long competition with significant continental and Olympic implications.

In preparation for the tournament, CAVB has called on all qualified National Federations to submit their Entry by Name forms for athletes and team officials to ensure the smooth organisation of the event.

According to the competition schedule, participating delegations will arrive in Alexandria on August 17 for the Preliminary Inquiry and Technical Meeting. Matches will be contested from August 18 to 22, while the departure of teams is scheduled for August 23.

Beyond the race for continental glory, the championship offers participating teams a crucial opportunity to strengthen their bid for qualification to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

CAVB has also urged all qualified National Federations to complete and submit the required registration documents within the stipulated deadlines to facilitate the successful staging of the championship.
