Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been handed a tough challenge following the draw for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament, conducted on Tuesday evening, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

A total of 24 teams were drawn into four groups of six, and D’Tigress found themselves placed in Group B, alongside Colombia, the Philippines, Germany, Korea, and hosts France a group widely regarded as one of the toughest in the qualifiers.

The Group B games will take place in Lyon, France, from March 11 to 17, 2026, where the Nigerian ladies will battle for a place at the prestigious World Cup.

D’Tigress, the current Women’s Afrobasket champions, will be looking to maintain their dominant form on the continent and translate it onto the global stage as they aim to secure their fourth consecutive World Cup appearance.

With top-ranked nations like France and Germany in their group, the Nigerian side will need to bring their best performance to stand a strong chance of qualification.
