2026 National Trials Set for Lagos Ahead of Commonwealth Games

Nigeria’s top track and field athletes will converge on Lagos later this month as the 2026 National Trials have been officially scheduled to take place from June 20 to 22 at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The trials will serve as the official selection event for athletes aiming to represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

According to the outlined programme, athletes and officials are expected to arrive on June 19, with competitions running across three days from June 20 to 22. Departure is scheduled for June 23.

The championship is anticipated to attract the nation’s finest talents in track and field, all vying for a place on Team Nigeria’s squad for the prestigious multi-sport event.

With spots on the line, the trials are expected to deliver intense competition as athletes look to secure qualification and represent Nigeria on the international stage in Glasgow.
