2026 WAFCON Qualifiers: We Want To Make Second Leg A Formality — Super Falcons Coach

Nigeria’s Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has expressed his determination to secure a convincing victory against the Benin Republic in Friday’s clash, aiming to make the return leg a mere formality, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The nine-time African champions will face Benin in the first leg of the final qualifying round for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Lome, Togo.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Madugu admitted that the absence of injured midfielder Jennifer Echegini is a blow to the team but maintained confidence in his squad’s quality.

“We have a team that will go out there and make us proud. Yes, we would have loved to have Jennifer (Echegini), but since she’s unavailable, we can only pray for her quick recovery,” Madugu told NFF media. 

“On Friday, we’ll play our game and go for the goals that will give us a strong advantage before the return leg.”

The second leg is scheduled for next Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
