2026 WAFCONQ: Black Queens Training Boycott Continues

The training boycott by Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, has entered its second day, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite interventions from high-ranking officials, including Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku and Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) founder Anthony Baffoe, the players have remained resolute in their decision.

The boycott began shortly after the team’s return from Cairo, where they played the first leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Egypt.

Sources close to the team revealed that the players are demanding the immediate payment of their outstanding allowances and match bonuses, which they claim have been delayed for several months.

Efforts by the GFA hierarchy to convince the players to resume training ahead of the crucial second-leg tie in Accra have been unsuccessful so far.

With the return leg fast approaching, the standoff poses a serious threat to the team’s preparation and could potentially affect their performance in the decisive fixture.
