Nigeria’s Super Falcons took a major step toward qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco with an impressive 2-0 away victory over the Benin Republic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The match, played at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé, Togo, saw the Falcons assert dominance from the onset.
Their early pressure paid off as Chiwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring in the first half, before Esther Okoronkwo doubled the advantage to seal a comfortable win for Nigeria.
The Nigerian ladies controlled proceedings for most of the encounter, displaying superior technical quality and experience that kept their West African neighbours on the back foot.
With the first leg victory secured, the Super Falcons will now host Benin in the return leg on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, where a positive result will confirm their place at the WAFCON 2026 finals in Morocco.
