Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong says the team will approach their next fixture against South Africa with renewed confidence following Saturday’s victory over Rwanda, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria kept their qualification hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 win against the Amavubi in Uyo, courtesy of a second-half strike from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ new signing, Tolu Arokodare.
The result lifted the Super Eagles to third place in Group C as they prepare for another decisive clash against Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Speaking after the match, Troost-Ekong stressed the importance of maintaining momentum. “This win against Rwanda gives us a lot of confidence going into the game with South Africa,” the centre-back said.
“I said before the Rwanda game that we will keep pushing until the very last day. We will fight to beat the South Africans and get the points we need.”
