2026 World Cup: FIFA Announces Camp For African Match Officials

Global football governing body FIFA has announced that camping for African match officials selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will commence in Miami, Florida, on May 31, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The initiative is part of preparations aimed at ensuring top-level officiating standards ahead of the global showpiece. 

The camp will bring together referees, assistant referees, and VAR officials from across the African continent for intensive training and assessment.

FIFA also confirmed that it will support the selected officials with their travel documentation by providing a special visa code to ease the application process, ensuring a smooth and timely arrival in the United States.

The camping program is expected to focus on fitness drills, technical sessions, and the use of modern officiating technologies, as officials gear up for one of the biggest tournaments in world football.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is set to be the first edition featuring an expanded format of 48 teams, increasing the demand for elite-level officiating across all matches.
