Ex-Nigerian International Jay Jay Okocha has told the Super Eagles players to focus more on the qualifier and ignore the rivalry with South Africa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite the array of stars in the Super Eagles team, they've only garnered 2 points to stay 3rd and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa are in second position.

Against all odds, the Amavubi of Rwanda stay on top of the group with 4 points and the situation created a lot of surprises for the followers of the game in the continent.

The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder sounded a note of warning to both Nigeria and South Africa to focus on the qualifiers.

"We (Nigeria and South Africa) didn't get off to a good start and I can say we are lucky that Bafana Bafana lost their second match.

I think we are focusing more on the South Africa-Nigeria rivalry instead of focusing on the qualifiers. It’s a big surprise that Rwanda topped the group”, he thinks.

“So, I think we (Nigeria and South Africa) need to change our mindset and focus on qualifying instead of our focus on our rivalry”, he said.
