2026 World Cup Qualifier: Madagascar Suspends Coach After His Post-Match Comments
Sampson Adedeji
The head coach of Madagascar, Nicholas Dupuis, has been suspended following his controversial comments after their humiliating defeat to Senegal in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Senegal cruised to a 5-0 victory in Juba, leaving the home fans frustrated and disappointed. In the aftermath, a top official of the Madagascar Football Federation expressed his displeasure with the coach’s performance and post-match conduct.
“Listen, we expected to win against Senegal. The coach failed to do his job and deliver the result, especially at home with the fans behind us,” the official said.
He added, “After the game, he talked a lot in the press room about not being paid even if we sack him. We felt he let us down and we decided to show him where the power lies.”
Following the incident, Dupuis has been suspended for 15 days and instructed to stay away from all national team activities pending further disciplinary action.
