2026 World Cup Qualifier: Rohr Says Benin, Nigeria, South Africa Face “Big Suspense”

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers reach their climax, Benin Republic coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that his team, along with Nigeria and South Africa, remain locked in “big suspense” ahead of the final group match, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Cheetahs currently sit atop Group C with 17 points, while South Africa and Nigeria trail closely behind in second and third place respectively.

Speaking with UK-based Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Rohr acknowledged the intensity of the qualification race and stressed that Benin must deliver in their final game against Nigeria in Uyo.

“It was a difficult game. Rwanda absolutely wanted to win, and we also wanted to enjoy the victory,” Rohr said.

 “But we still have to do something great in Uyo.

 “All is possible for the three teams South Africa, Benin, and Nigeria. We now have the decision to win in our hands, which could be a little advantage. But we will see, Osasu, we will see. Big suspense until the end of the qualifying series,” he concluded.
