Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu has been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Eagles right-back picked up a syndesmosis ligament injury during Bremen’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over St. Pauli last weekend.

Agu, who has been in impressive form this season, was forced off the pitch shortly before half-time and replaced by Isaac Schmidt.

Medical assessments conducted by the German Bundesliga club confirmed that the 24-year-old will be sidelined for several weeks, effectively ruling him out of Nigeria’s crucial qualifiers scheduled for this month.

Agu’s absence will come as a blow to Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who had included the versatile defender in his plans for the two games.

The national team is expected to announce a replacement in the coming days.

Nigeria will face Lesotho on October 10 in Polokwane, South Africa, before traveling to Cotonou to take on Benin Republic four days later.
