2026 World Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles Hold First Training Session

Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro led the team in their first training session held on Tuesday with all 23 invited players in action, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The light training which started at 5:00pm was held at the practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Six early birds arrived in camp on Monday and with the arrival of 17 players earlier on Tuesday, the Portuguese tactician has a full squad to select from when the three-time African champions take on Lesotho in Match-day One of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie who replaced Maduka Okoye was the last player to arrive camp. Maduka Okoye had withdrawn from participating in the two matches against Lesotho on Thursday and Warriors of Zimbabwe on Sunday.

The Nigeria versus Lesotho match will kick off at 5pm on Thursday.

Jose Peseiro boys will face Zimbabwe in the second match of the qualifier at the King Pele Stadium, Rwanda on Sunday.
