2026 World Cup Qualifier: Team Go On Strike, Set To Boycott Tuesday Game

The senior national team of The Gambia has reportedly embarked on a strike, refusing to attend training on Sunday after their arrival in Mauritius for the final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Seychelles scheduled for Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

According to reports, the players took the drastic step over unpaid allowances covering three consecutive international camps.

 In addition, they voiced frustration over poor logistical arrangements during their trip to Mauritius.

Sources revealed that the Scorpions endured a grueling 24-hour journey after their team bus broke down in Kenya, leaving the players stranded for several hours before continuing their trip.

The situation has created growing tension within the camp, with players allegedly threatening to boycott Tuesday’s crucial encounter if the Gambian Football Federation fails to address their grievances before matchday.

As of press time, officials of the federation have yet to issue an official statement regarding the strike or the players’ demands.
