2026 World Cup Qualifier: We Are Ready To Upstage Nigeria - Rohr

After steering the Cheetahs of Benin to the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco, the coach of Beninoise Gernot Rohr has shifted focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifier, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Beninoise missed the last two editions of the tournament, but they returned to the biennial competition on Monday after playing a goalless draw with Libya.

They garnered 8 points to finish second behind the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The qualifier of the World Cup will resume in 2025 and Rohr made it clear that they are ready to qualify.

" We qualified for AFCON, it's a done deal, now we are going to try to qualify for World Cup", he said.

Benin will confront similar opponents they faced during the AFCON qualifier as they are in the same group with Nigeria, Rwanda, Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
