2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Adams Out Of Rwanda, South Africa Games
Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria’s hopes for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers have taken a hit as striker Jerome Akor Adams has been ruled out due to injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Adams sustained the setback during Sevilla’s La Liga clash with Getafe on Sunday, and the Spanish Long confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old is nursing an injury to the long adductor muscle in his left thigh.
As a result, the forward will not be available for Sevilla’s weekend fixture against Girona.
“Sevilla FC completed their first training session on Wednesday, preparing for this weekend’s match in Girona,” the club stated on its official website.
“Neither Rubén Vargas nor Akor Adams trained with the group. The Swiss forward worked separately in the gym, while the Nigerian is sidelined with an adductor injury and will miss the game against Girona.”
Adams had been included in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad released last week by head coach Eric Chelle for the doubleheader against Rwanda’s Amavubi and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
