2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Rohr Warns Benin Cheetahs Ahead Of Nigeria Clash
Sampson Adedeji
Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has sounded a strong warning to his players ahead of their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The German tactician expressed concern over his team’s discipline, revealing that nine of his players are walking a suspension tightrope ahead of Friday’s clash with Rwanda.
The players at risk include Sessi d’Almeida, Yohan Roche, Jodel Dossou, Rodrigue Kossi, Mohamed Tijani, Samadou Attidjikou, Imourane Hassane, Junior Olaitan, and Cédric Hountondji.
Rohr cautioned his squad to maintain composure and avoid unnecessary actions that could cost them crucial matches.
“If a player is suspended for protesting or showing bad temperament, he will be fined,” Rohr warned.
“We are very strict about discipline we can’t afford to be weakened by avoidable mistakes.”
Benin currently sit joint-top of Group C with South Africa on 14 points, following the latter’s three-point deduction.
Nigeria trail closely behind with 11 points and will be eager to exploit any slip-ups when they face Benin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
