2027 AFCON: Senegal Enters Race To Rival Morocco, Others For Hosting Rights

Senegal has entered the race to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations as interested countries continue to show their intention, BSNsports.com.ng understand.


It should be recalled that the opening of applications for the organization of the prestigious African competition took place last May. 


In particular, CAF demanded that candidates must have the necessary infrastructure for the smooth running of the competition, such as stadiums approved by FIFA, quality training grounds, but also accommodation and communication infrastructure.


Burkina Faso, Morocco, Zambia, Tanzania as well as the Botswana-Namibia duo (joint bid) are the countries that signified their interest to host before Senegal joined them on Monday.


The host country will be announced at the beginning of 2023.


Ivory Coast will host 2023 while Guinea will stage the competition in 2025.
