2030 Commonwealth Games: Nigerian Delegation Engages CGF In London

Nigeria has intensified its bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games with a strategic meeting in London involving top officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The delegation, led by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, met with CGF executives to advance discussions on Nigeria’s earlier expression of interest and to outline the next phase of the bidding process.

Other key members of the team included NSC Director-General Bukola Olapade, NOC President and IOC executive member Habu Gumel, NOC Vice-President Solomon Ogba, Secretary-General Tunde Popola, as well as technical experts and advisors.

Talks in London focused on Nigeria’s objectives for hosting the Games, the expectations of the CGF, and essential requirements for the final submission.

Issues addressed included the Code of Conduct for candidate cities, communication protocols, timelines, and bid evaluation criteria.

The NSC confirmed that Nigeria’s final bid will be submitted before the August 31 deadline, pending presidential approval.

The CGF is expected to announce its decision on the 2030 host before the end of the year.
