3rd Edition of FCT Lawyers' 5-Aside Football Tourney kick off ...as Lawyers in court Tigers tackle each other on the field  By Joel Ajayi The 3rd edition of the Lawyers' Football Competition 5-aside otherwise known as Chief Akinlolu Olujimi SAN Football league 2019 among the law firms in the Federal Capital Territory FCT,  commenced in grand style on Saturday as first game between OA Warriors and Yakubu Philemon FC ended 3-2 in favor of Yakubu Philemon.  The tournament that has 14 teams from over 50 law firms is participating in this year's edition taking place at Maitama Garden and Sports Cafe FCT Abuja.  2019 competition is currently witnessing some exceptional goals, amazing passes, dribbling, dazzling and sublime free kicks as spectators were thrilled to the stupor. Speaking shortly after the opening match of the competition, the Coordinator of the tournament Olujimi Olujide said this year's Competition is particularly unique as more firms, lawyers are participating compared to the previous editions. He said: "The main purpose of this competition is to bring another platform for lawyers together apart from courtroom and law firms to relax and interact with each other. Apart from that,  there is a different perspective to this year's event as we plan it in a league format and it's going to last for three weeks. So, we have more firms, more lawyers participating in the tournament. Incentives for the winning teams and individual awards winner's categories have been scaled up adding that the winner, second and third place will smile to bank with#250,000, #200,000 and #150,000 respectively.  "This is a special platform, no suit, no wigs, no tie, everybody is free, and we are getting used to each other from different law firms. "So far, I can say there is a great improvement from what we saw last year, because of we more than 50 law firms, with 14 clubs presently at this pitch. It's major progress from what we had last year. "It cut across all strata of legal practitioners and will last for three weeks and the final comes up 5th of May 2019." Olujimi pointed out that the organizer would also visit Durumi IDPs in the FCT as part of Social Corporate Responsibility while raffle draw will equally conduct where Laptops, Phones and many other gift items will be won. However, the music and dance and comedians were on ground to add glamour and glitz of the event. However, the first game between OA Warriors vs Yakubu Philemon FC ended 3-2 in favor of Yakubu Philemon with Yakubu Nuhu netting a brace. Lukman Tairu got the first booking of the season. J.T Aondo’s Ifeanyi Okolie was the hat-trick hero of the season following their 6-2 drubbing of Teeay Galaticus While team Proches defense was shattered by Chris Uche FC in the third match of the day following a 7-1 demolition of their opponent. Also in the first-week game, the battle between Raji FC and Team Kalu ended 3-2 in favor of Raji FC.  Also, the defending champions Team Mexis, whitewashed  their opponents Maikyau FC beat 14-0  In the other match played Dauda Sanni’s hat-trick and Otigas lone goal was enough to sink LOF legions in a 4-1 mauling.  Meanwhile, the Team Mexis stands on top of the table this week with 3point 14 goals advantage.
