3SC Set To Fight For NPFL Ticket- Dimeji Lawal

Shooting Stars lack of topflight football is only a matter of time as the club are ready to fight for promotion ahead of the new NNL season, says Team Manager Oladimeji Lawal.
The Oluyole Warriors lost out on NPFL promotion to Akwa Starlets in the final NNL play-offs held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba in July.
The defeat made it the third time the Ibadan-based club came close to securing topflight promotion, only to falter at the end.
But, Lawal, believes the team is ready to launch another onslaught, insisting that they have technically gifted players who are prepared for the challenge.
“It is normal, hard times will always come, but I guess we have gone beyond that phase now,” he said.
“We are primed to give it another shot. If you look at the club in the last two seasons, we have always made it into the play-offs. So, it means there is something we are doing right and we should only work on the final details. The players we have are good players; technically and tactically gifted so, we can definitely make a serious push for promotion again.
“It has never been a bad campaign for the club but, with the new government in place, we have received assurances from them and, really, it’s a boost for us.
“The governor has indicated interest and we’re seeing signs, so I believe we’ll give it another try this season,” he told Sports Extra.
