400 Golfers In Abuja As Captain Banjo Obaleye Inaugural Golf Tournament Tee-off Today

As the IBB Club Golf Section Captain Banjo Obaleye Inaugural Golf Tournament tees-off today (Wednesday), no fewer than 400 golfers and 100 tennis players are taking part at the championship, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The inaugural tournament is to usher in the new Captain into IBB Golf and Country Club which the captain, Dr. Olabanjo Obaleye described as the beginning of a new era.
Chairman of the Captain Banjo Obaleye Golf Tournament, Major Gen. (Rtd) Chris Jemitola during the press conference with Sports writers on Tuesday stated that all roads will lead to the golf course as golfers across Nigeria join their counterparts in Abuja for the epic event.
Chris hinted that the inaugural tournament being organised by the Captain, Olabanjo Obaleye in conjunction with the Executive Committee would be keenly contested as trophies and prizes are at stake for winners and runners-up in different categories.
He revealed that the tournament will feature golfers from handicap 0-54, it also includes the veteran and super veteran golfers.
The Professional will tee-off the tournament on Wednesday while Handicap 19-54 takes to the course on Thursday. On Saturday, handicap 0-10 will display their skills to round off the tournament.
He affirmed that the club captain, Olabanjo Obaleye in his show of love organised tennis and golf for the inaugural tournament. He added that the tennis competition started on Monday while golf comes alive from today.
He said: “No fewer than 400 golfers and 100 tennis players from across the country are participating in the championship.
“The presentation of trophies and different prizes as well as dinner has been scheduled to hold on Saturday later in the evening.
Also speaking, Captain Olabanjo assured that the course has been treated so much that it is the best golf course in Nigeria.
He said they sponsored children of caddies and staff to partake in the ongoing catch-them-young programme where children are being trained on basic skill of golf. He added the prizes set aside to be won worth the sum of Twenty Million naira (N20m).
