Not fewer than 42 Nigerians will participate and benefit in the maiden Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) Level 1 Medical and WADA Training Course scheduled to hold at the Media Center, Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.

The federation had organised seminar and workshop for coaches and referees where numerous Nigerians who participated were certified to further improve the development of the game in the country.

In a deliberate attempt to make the game a house hold name in the country, the federation has concluded plans to train officials and other Nigerians in a three-day Medical and Anti-doping course in Abuja.

One of the major reason this training is put together is that, the NRFF in conjunction with its partner, Sports and Youth Development Academy (SYDA) and Africa Sports desire a drug free rugby environment.

The event which holds at the Media Center will commence on 15th and ends on 18th February, 2023 with 44 participants from all the six geopolitical zones across Nigeria.

Mr Femi - World Anti-Doping Agency accredited Educator will be the facilitator who educates participants in Day 1 while Dr Rotimi Akinola - a world Anti-doping Agency accredited educator to train registered Nigerians on Day 2 and 3.

Speaking on the readiness and gains of the training, the President of the Federation, Dr Ademola Are said, "The NRFF is ready to receive all the participants. Everything is in place including the venue and the facilitators.

"It is important that players and coaches are well informed because we don't want our players to fall foul of the law.

"The participants who will be certified after the course will also be abreast of the laws guiding anti-doping and how to avoid them, and know about what drugs, food the players should take and should not."

The three-day course will see the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ismaila Abubakar gracing the occasion.
