4th Abuja Kid Soccer To Kick off This Weeks

The 4th Abuja Kid Soccer League will kick off this week.BSNSports.com.ng reports

The organiser is gearing up for its highly anticipated return, with kick off preparations for the upcoming season. As part of the pre-league process, participating academies brought their young players to undergo mandatory screening exercise, a crucial requirement for participation in the league.

At the screening venue, former Nigerian international Femi Ajilore, the chief organizer of the event, shared his insights with journalists. Ajilore highlighted the significance of the screening exercise and provided a sneak peek into the exciting events lined up for this year’s edition of the Abuja Kid Soccer League.

“It’s the 4th edition of the Kid Soccer League. We have the initiative and the platform for these young lads to catch them young, grassroots football development. This is what we are doing today and the purpose of the screening is to have players that are eligible for these categories participate in the league.

“And, as you can see it was a huge success. We had two football legends on ground for the screening, we had coaches and ex-internationals that witnessed and conducted the screening. Emmanuel Babayaro and the National U-15 head coach, coach Patrick were also on ground.

“We have about eight to nine teams participate at the screening and we were happy to receive each and every one of them, and we are happy that everything went so well. We look forward to the commencement of the league.

“For this year’s edition we streamlined to eight teams so that we can manage it properly. Although, more than eight teams indicated interest in participating. But we had different criteria that we used to accommodate the teams and those that fell within the criteria we accommodated them.

“The league will commence the last weekend in February by God’s grace since we are done with the screening exercises. The fixtures of the game will be out during the week and every team will know their opponents

“This year’s edition promises to be a very exciting one, and one of the new things we are trying to achieve is a lot of media coverage. There will be a lot of TV interviews for some of the players so that we can begin to have their data as they grow, and hopefully, the league will help them compete well and grow in their development,” Ajilore said

Meanwhile, one of the Directors of the Ajilore Football Academy, Falusi Oladapo, said their goal is to have their academy come top at the end of the day.

‘I am sure you have been following the trajectory of this academy and in every of this tournament we set up a very ambitious target and to the glory of God we have actually been meeting a significant part of our target.

“And for this year’s edition it is our dream to have most of our grade levels come first and win the trophy, and we also want most of our star players that we have invested so much on, in terms of training, in terms of improving their skills and discovering their talents to also be showcased.

Speaking more on how they have been able to sustain the interest of the kids parents, Oladapo said, “As far as our team is concerned we normally have this feedback mechanism with them such that we organise engagement with them, encouraging them significantly. Sometimes we know it’s quite difficult. Some of these players after their schools would still have to bring them for training. So, that platform has yielded results because we have enough time to tell them the reasons why they should see it as a sacrifice at every point in time, not only in training alone but also this kind of tournament,
