5th NYG: FCT Emerges Overall Best In Gymnastic With 8 Medals

Team Federal Capital Territory (Teams FCT) awarded best team in gymnastics event at the end of the game at the ongoing 2019 National Youth Game in Ilorin, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Team FCT won eight (8) medals comprises of five gold, two silver and one bronze medals to top the overall gymnastic medals table. Team Ogun came second as Lagos and Ekiti occupied 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Team Ogun won 4 gold and two bronze, Lagos garnered three gold and five silver while Ekiti won two gold and two silver medals.

Recall that Team FCT came first in 2017 edition but the medals won did reflect on the official medals table as the organisers said it was just demonstration sport in 2017.

Munachi Obiefuna from FCT emerged overall best gymnast as she won 4 gold and two silver medals to dominate the artistic gymnastics at the ongoing 5th Youth Games in Ilorin. She beat her number one rivals Abimbola of Lagos state in the Balance Beam with 7.60 and on the Floor with 7.55 to clinch the two gold medals in the individual event while winning silver in Vaulting horse.

Munachi together with her twin sister Mukaoso Itunanya Obiefuna won gold in the team event.

Reacting to her feat, Munachi Obiefula who won four gold medals said:

"I am feeling happy but i wasn't serious about winning medals. i was just playing just to have fun because gymnastic makes me happy, Munachi told BSN Sports.

"After six years in.this game, i intend to be more successful, learn more skills and emerge Olympic and world champions one day.

"Now i have go back home and practice more so as to perform better than this next year." She concluded
