9th NYG: Chineye Agbo Wins 3rd Bronze Medal For Nasarawa In Karate Event

Chineye Agbo of Team Nasarawa Karate has won a third Bronze medal for the state after defeating her opponent from FCT, Faiza Gimba, 4-0, Saturday, August 30, 2025, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This follows Magdaline Inji (-47kg Girls) and Alexander Otuma (-50kg Boys) winning Bronze in their respective categories on the opening day of the karate event on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, where the 9th National Youth Games is currently taking place.

To reach the Bronze Medal Kumite, Chineye Agbo defeated Blessing Moses of Niger State 8-0, lost to eventual Gold medalist Chidinma Nwangwu of Anambra 3-7, defeated Gift Emezue of Abia 4-0, and then defeated Faiza Gimba 4-0.

Reacting to the victory, Chineye said, "I'm not happy I won a Bronze; my target was the Gold. However, I thank God for this opportunity, and I also want to thank the Nasarawa State government and my coaches."

With this win, Team Nasarawa Karate has increased its medal tally to three Bronze medals.
