A Story of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro: From Remo Stars to Lifting the Coppa Italia in 3 Years
By Gbenga Gboyega
It took just six months for fortune to smile on 18-year-old Ebenezer Akinsanmiro who joined Italy's Inter Milan from Nigeria Premier Football League side Remo Stars during the 2023 winter transfer window, writes BSNSports.com.ng.
The attacking midfielder of Nigerian descent was born on the 26th of November, 2004, and started his professional career at Remo Stars in the COVID year - 2020, but is now an Italian Cup winner with Internazionale in 2023.
At the start of his career, Ebenezer was part of the Remo Stars' squad that gained promotion from Nigeria's second tier - the Nigeria National League to the NPFL in the 2020-21 season, featuring in the top flight ever since.
Three years down the line, the bright Nigerian midfield maestro caught a wing of attraction from Italian giants - Internazionale, who eventually came for his hand in service at the tail end of the winter transfer window earlier this year. Due to his age, he was then drafted into the Inter Milan U-19 team to play in the Italian Youth League system - the Primavera 1, where he bagged two assists in 12 games.
In May, the time for Ebenezer to shine in the limelight came in handy when he was drafted into the senior team squad by Inter's coach Simone Inzaghi, consequently making a matchday squad in the Serie A and another in the Italian Cup.
Inter won the latter against Florentina, to lift domestic silverware for the 2022-23 season, with Ebenezer also earning an Italian Cup title-winning medal due to his inclusion in the matchday squad.
A three-year professional journey from the Nationwide National League in Nigeria to celebrating a major domestic title in Italy's top flight is only but a stepping stone to a more illustrious career ahead for Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.
