AFCON 2023: Peserio Names Musa, Troost-Ekong in 41-Man Provisional Squad

Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro has submitted 41 players in his provisional squad for next year's AFCON in Ivory Coast, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

As obtained from the CAF official website, captain Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong and Kelechi Nwakali are listed in the provisional squad. 

Three home-based players were named including goalkeepers Amas Obasogie, Ojo Olorunleke and Christian Nwoke 

Meanwhile, CAF Organising Committee said teams will be permitted with a final squad of 27 players, four more than the initial 23 from previous tournaments. The registration of the four additional players on the final list of is only an option and not an obligation.   

In addition, the deadline for the submission of the final squads for the tournament is 3 January 2023, exactly ten (10) days to the opening match.  

Also, a player in the final squad can only be replaced after a serious injury no less than 24-hours before the team’s first match following the approval of the medical certificate by the CAF Medical Committee. 

The final tournament will take place from 13 January to 11 February 2024 in the Ivorian cities of Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.
