AFCON 2023 Qualifier: Musa Clears The Air On His Participation

Nigeria's Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa has cleared the air on his participation in the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Coted'Ivoire, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

The Faith Karagumruk attacker during the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon said his participation was his last for the country.

Musa was among the players called up for the qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principle and his already in camp with the team in Abuja.

While speaking to the media on Monday morning, Musa said the 2021 AFCON will be his last not that he said he was quitting the national team.

"That is what I said but I have not said I have stopped from the national team.

"The coach knows I have what to give to the team, and that was why I'm here. I will be at the next AFCON and that's if I'm still playing active football. Definitely, I'm still playing active football and the coach thinks I'm still needed and I'm going to come.

"We are very sorry for the disappointment in the last World Cup qualifier, we know it's not that easy to forget but most of the players still have that shock. I'm still thinking that game was not played but its football I have to focus.

"A lot of Nigerians are disappointed but I want to say we are sorry, they should just keep believing in the Super Eagles and we'll make them have confidence in us again," he said.
