AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Sierra Leone Lands In Abuja For Eagles

Ahead of the much-awaited opening group games of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Super Eagles, Leone Stars of Sierra Leone has landed in Abuja, BSNsports.com.ng understands.


The two teams were drawn up to face each again when the AFCON 2023 draws was conducted in Cameroon in the year.

Both teams face off each other at the 2021 African Nations Cup qualifying series at Samuel Ogbemeudia stadium with Leone Stars making a come back with a 4-4 spoil draw, after Super Eagles were leading early by 4-0.


Leone Stars departed Conakry Guinea on Saturday for Nigeria with 25 players listed by the team Head Coach John Keister.


The country will be hoping to make a back-to-back appearance in the biennial tournament for the first time in its history if they qualify for the continent biggest football fiesta in Ivory Coast.


After playing Nigeria on Wednesday, Sierra Leone will host Guinea Bissau in their second Group A match before facing Sao Tome and Principle in their 3rd match.
