AFCON 2025: Chelle Play Mind Games, Not Seeking Revenge Against Algeria
Ibrahim Lateef
Eric Chelle has asserted his commitment to strategy, emphasising he will stick to his plans, even if the approach to facing Algeria remains uncertain. He firmly states that his focus is not on vengeance, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The two powerhouse teams in African football are set to clash on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, taking place at Stade de Marrakech, Ouahat Sidi Ibrahim, as they compete for a spot in the prestigious final four.
“It’s crucial for me to maintain focus on the pitch. While energy matters, the mindset is paramount. Our group will remain united,” Chelle declared.
"This match is critical against a formidable opponent. We are in the process of determining our game plan."
"I hold a deep respect for this Algerian team; their staff operates with exceptional professionalism."
"I’m not dwelling on revenge for 2019. My priority is to compete fiercely and secure qualification."
“Yes, there’s a lot of talk around Osimhen and Lookman; that’s only natural as they are currently two of the best African players. However, our purpose is clear—we support them, create opportunities, and drive to score. We are a cohesive unit, and success hinges on our teamwork.”
