AFCON 2025: Algeria Coach Reveals What Must Be Done To Stop Nigeria
Sampson Adedeji
Algeria head coach Vladimir Pletikovic has outlined the key approach his team must adopt to contain Nigeria’s dangerous attacking unit ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Speaking during his pre-match briefing, Pletikovic stressed that mental strength, tactical discipline, and attention to detail will be crucial if the Desert Foxes are to overcome the Super Eagles.
According to the Algerian tactician, his side must strike the right balance between defensive solidity and attacking efficiency against a Nigerian team that has impressed throughout the tournament.
“The most important thing is the state of mind. It all starts from there, and from that point of view, we are irreproachable,” Pletikovic said.
"We have the reliability and the quality. Tomorrow, we need to be just as good defensively as offensively. That will be paramount.”
Pletikovic also emphasized the importance of focus, insisting that no aspect of the game should be overlooked when facing Nigeria.
“All the details will matter against Nigeria. Nothing should be left to chance.
"We have the qualities, we believe in ourselves, and we just have to play a big game,” he added.
Nigeria and Algeria will face off in Marrakech on Saturday, with a place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco at stake.
