AFCON 2025: Benin Offers Huge Cash To Beat Egypt
Sampson Adedeji
Benin Republic has raised the stakes ahead of their crucial clash against Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Benin Football Federation announcing a lucrative financial incentive for the national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports
President of the Benin FA, Mathurin de Chacus, has promised a cash bonus of 200 million CFA francs to the Cheetahs if they secure qualification for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The offer, which effectively hinges on Benin overcoming Egypt in their knockout fixture, is aimed at motivating the players to deliver a historic performance against the seven-time African champions.
Benin have emerged as one of the surprise packages of the tournament, showing resilience and tactical discipline in their run so far, and the federation believes the bonus will further spur the team to rise to the occasion.
Egypt, perennial contenders at AFCON, head into the tie as favourites, but the West Africans will be hoping that the added incentive and growing belief within the squad can tilt the balance in their favour as they chase a place in the last eight.
