AFCON 2025: CAF, LOC Meet Delegations Of Qualified Teams, Take Key Decisions

In preparation for a smooth and successful 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) held a virtual meeting with representatives of the 24 qualified national teams, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

During the meeting, several key administrative, logistical, and technical decisions were agreed upon to ensure the tournament runs efficiently from start to finish.

Key Decisions Reached- Each nation is permitted to register a maximum of 28 players, selected from their 55-man provisional list. A total of 17 backroom staff will be allowed per team, including technical, medical and administrative personnel.

Teams can arrive in Morocco up to five days before the opening ceremony to aid adequate preparation.

Clubs must release players by December 8, following official FIFA regulations.

The discussions also included arrangements concerning visas for officials, training facilities, accommodation, doping and medical regulations, media obligations, and commercial procedures.

Technical & Security Requests- Coaches reportedly requested for additional technical seats behind the team benches, aligned with structures used in top global leagues, to improve match analysis.

Delegations also emphasized the need for tight security and privacy around team hotels to prevent disruptions and maintain team focus throughout the tournament.

Transportation Support -The LOC confirmed full transport logistics for all participating nations, covering movement from five days before their first match until 24 hours after their final game. The support includes:

One 50-seater team bus A dedicated vehicle for the head of delegation

An equipment truck Complete airport and inter-city transfers

 Tournament Schedule- The 2025 AFCON will kick off on December 21, 2025, and run through January 18, 2026, with Morocco hosting the historic competition.
