AFCON 2025: CAF, LOC Set To Unveil Mascot

With just weeks to the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) have finalized arrangements to unveil the official mascot for the continental showpiece, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The mascot, named IZM, symbolizes the spirit and identity of the 2025 AFCON.

The name IZM means “Lion” in Tamazight, one of Morocco’s indigenous languages, representing pride, freedom, and endurance. Born in the majestic Atlas Mountains, IZM embodies the soul, strength, and unity of Africa a true reflection of the continent’s passion for football and cultural diversity.

The 2025 AFCON will feature 24 countries battling for continental glory in what promises to be a thrilling tournament.

The competition is scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, across several Moroccan cities.

Fans across Africa are eagerly awaiting the grand unveiling of IZM, which will officially mark the beginning of celebrations leading to Africa’s biggest football festival.
