With the countdown to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco underway, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially launched the AFCON Trophy Tour, with Kigali, Rwanda, serving as the first stop, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Africa’s most prestigious football prize is on display as part of CAF’s buildup to the continental showpiece, scheduled for 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 in Morocco.

The Kigali event came shortly after CAF’s “100 Days to Kick-off” celebrations, which sparked excitement across the continent ahead of another festival of African football.

Symbolically, the tour’s opening coincided with the launch of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, uniting two landmark sporting occasions.

The ceremony highlighted Africa’s sporting heritage, led by Mr. Jimmy Umulisa and Ms. Nibagwire Sifa Gloria, who received warm applause from fans.

Special recognition was also given to CAF ambassadors in attendance, including Tunisia’s 2004 AFCON winner, Karim Haggui, and Rwandan legend, Haruna Niyonzima.

They were joined by Ms. Alice Niyoyita, who will continue to accompany the trophy as it journeys through upcoming destinations on the tour.
