AFCON 2025: CAF Set To Reopen The Bidding Process

The President of the African soccer ruling body Patrice Motsepe and the General Secretary Veron Omba Mosengo on Friday stormed Conakry the capital of Guinea to meet with the Head of State of the country Mamadi Doumbouya, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Uncertainty has surrounded Guinea as the host of the 2025 African Cup of Nations and speculation was heightened in July after the General Assembly CAF that the hosting right has been taken away from the French-speaking country.

A report from Guinea suggests that the country's football federation has finally notified CAF about its withdrawal as the host of the tournament.

The football body will conduct the draw for the 2023 Championship of African Nations on Saturday after which the bidding process for the 2025 AFCON will be announced.

Algeria, Morocco and a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin Republic have earlier indicated their interest to stage the biennial events.
