Sampson Adedeji
As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco enters its decisive stage, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of referees retained to officiate the remaining matches of the tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
CAF had earlier indicated that the number of match officials would be reduced as the competition progressed, in line with standard tournament practice.
With the tournament now at the semi-final stage, the list has been trimmed to 16 referees who will oversee the final four matches of the competition, including the semi-finals, third-place match, and final.
The retained officials are expected to handle the high-pressure fixtures as the continent’s top teams battle for the AFCON title.
CAF is relying on experienced and trusted referees to ensure fair officiating as the championship reaches its climax.
List of Retained Referees: Mustapha Ghorbal, Pacifique Ndabihawenimana, Abdou Mefire, Jean Ndala, Amin Omar, Pierre Atcho, Peter Waweru, Boubou Traore, Dahane Beida, Jalal Jayed, Samuel Uwikunda, Issa Sy, Omar Artan, Abongile Tom, Mahmoud Ismail and Mehrez Melki
With only four matches left to conclude the tournament, CAF will be counting on these officials to deliver consistent and high-quality officiating as AFCON 2025 reaches its zenith in Morocco.
