AFCON 2025: Chelle Thrilled With Super Eagles Victory, Turns Focus To Next Match
Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed satisfaction with Nigeria’s emphatic victory over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, while quickly shifting focus to the team’s next challenge, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Black Mambas 4-0, with goals from Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Akor Adams sealing a comfortable win.
Speaking after the match, Chelle welcomed the result but played down any sense of overachievement, stressing the need for continuous improvement.
“I’m happy about this game, winning by four goals, but in reality, we didn’t do anything special. We just won one game,” the coach said.
“If we want to be ambitious, we need to continue to improve and keep this quality on the pitch.
“My job now is to keep the players very focused on their training sessions and their behaviour.”
The Super Eagles’ convincing display has boosted confidence within the camp as they prepare for their next AFCON fixture, with Chelle emphasizing discipline and consistency as key to Nigeria’s progress in the tournament.
