Sampson Adedeji
The Democratic Republic of Congo has officially released their final 26-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking the beginning of their quest for a third continental title, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
In the squad announced on Monday, Fiston Kalala Mayele stands out as the only player currently based in Africa, with the rest of the team drawn from clubs across Europe and other continents.
The selection reflects head coach Sébastien Desabre’s confidence in his overseas-based talents as the Leopards look to make a strong impact at the tournament. DR Congo, two-time champions of the competition (1968 and 1974), will compete in Group D and face a challenging schedule against tough opposition.
Group Stage Fixtures
Benin – 23 December
Senegal – 27 December
Botswana – 30 December
With high expectations and a history of success, supporters hope the Leopards can replicate the glory of previous generations and fight their way deep into the tournament.
AFCON 2025 kicks off on December 21 in Morocco.
