AFCON 2025: Enyeama Ranked Third Among Goalkeepers With Most Clean Sheets

Former Nigeria captain and Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been ranked third on the all-time list of goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), BSNSports.com.ng reports
Enyeama recorded 10 clean sheets during his appearances at the continental tournament, placing him joint-third alongside Côte d’Ivoire legend Alain Gouaméné and Morocco international Yassine Bounou.
Egypt’s iconic goalkeeper Essam El Hadary tops the chart with 14 clean sheets, while former Ivory Coast shot-stopper Boubacar Copa occupies second place with 11.
The list of goalkeepers with the most AFCON clean sheets reads: Essam El Hadary (Egypt) – 14 Boubacar Copa (Côte d’Ivoire) – 11 Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria) – 10 Alain Gouaméné (Côte d’Ivoire) – 10 Yassine Bounou (Morocco) – 10
Enyeama featured in five AFCON tournaments, representing Nigeria in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2013.
During this period, he established himself as one of Africa’s most reliable goalkeepers, playing a key role in Nigeria’s defensive solidity across multiple editions.
His AFCON career was decorated with four bronze medals in 2004, 2006, and 2010, before he crowned his international journey by winning the AFCON title in 2013, when Nigeria lifted the trophy in South Africa.
The recognition further underlines Enyeama’s enduring legacy as one of the greatest goalkeepers to have graced African football.
