AFCON 2025: Guinea Sports Minister Blast Pinnick Over Nigeria/Benin Co-Host Claim

Guinea Minster of Sports Lansana Bea Diallo has reacted angrily to the claims that Nigeria and Benin Republic are bidding to take the hosting right of the 2025 African Cup of Nations away from his country, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick a few days ago claimed that Guinea could be stripped of the hosting right of the event and further said Nigeria and its neighbour Benin are working to take over from them.

The Minister called a press conference on the matter on Thursday evening debunking Pinnick's claims while also assuring the readiness of Guinea to stage the competition.

" Today, there is a CAN which is dedicated to a single country in 2025 and it was said that it is Guinea.

"But I observed that many countries are positioning themselves to take it because they said that Guinea is not capable of organising it.

"I would like to tell them this AFCON is for Guinea, I would like to say to all these candidates that their candidacies can wait till 2027, 2029 or 2031 but 2025 is for Guinea.

"The process is underway and is not late, we are well within the deadline," he said.
