AFCON 2025: Hull City Opens Talks With NFF Over Semi Ajayi’s Release

Hull City have opened discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the possible extension of Semi Ajayi’s stay at the club before his release for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to open their pre-tournament camp in Cairo, Egypt on December 10, with Ajayi expected to join the following day. However, according to Hull Daily Mail, the English Championship side is pushing for a three-day delay in the defender’s departure.
The request aligns with reports indicating that FIFA may impose sanctions on clubs allowing players to leave on or after December 15, a provision that could permit Ajayi to feature in Hull City’s crucial fixture against Millwall on December 14 at The Den.
Ajayi, 31, is a key figure for the Tigers and could miss up to seven matches for the club should Nigeria progress to the AFCON 2025 final.
Negotiations between both parties are ongoing as the countdown to the continental showpiece intensifies.
