AFCON 2025: Lookman Fires Super Eagles Past Tanzania

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman emerged as the match winner in Fez on Tuesday as Nigeria’s Super Eagles opened their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a hard-fought victory over Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria took the lead in the first half through defender Semi Ajayi, who calmly finished after sustained pressure from the Super Eagles.

Tanzania responded early in the second half when Mbombwa found the equaliser, briefly silencing the Nigerian supporters and bringing the game back on level terms.

However, the Super Eagles quickly regained control, and it was Lookman who delivered the decisive moment. 

The Atalanta star struck a few minutes later to restore Nigeria’s lead and seal all three points for Eric Chelle’s side.

The win gives Nigeria a positive start to their AFCON 2025 group campaign as they look to build momentum in the tournament.
