AFCON 2025: Morocco Hosting To Win – Hakimi Sends Strong Message To Nigeria, Others

As anticipation builds for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Moroccan captain Achraf Hakimi has issued a bold statement to rival nations, declaring Morocco’s intent to win the tournament on home soil, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With Morocco officially named host of the prestigious continental competition, the Paris Saint-Germain star made it clear that the Atlas Lions are fully focused on lifting the trophy.

Traditional powerhouses like Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Senegal’s Teranga Lions, Egypt’s Pharaohs, and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions are all considered strong contenders.

However, Hakimi insists the hosts are approaching the tournament with one goal in mind: victory.

 "We’re only thinking about winning, to tell the truth. We’re playing at home, with our fans. We’re ready for that,” Hakimi said.

 “To win this AFCON, we just have to believe that we’re going to do it. That’s the goal – the only thing on our minds is: win, win, win.”

 Morocco last claimed the AFCON title in 1976, and Hakimi is determined to end that long wait in front of a home crowd.
