The Junior Atlas Lions of Morocco will be without two of their key players as they head into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Abdel Hamid Ait Boudal and Othkane Maama have been left out of the final squad announced on Friday.

Their exclusion follows a decision by their French Ligue 1 clubs, Amiens and Montpellier, respectively, to withhold their release for the tournament.

Head coach Mohammed Ouabi unveiled the squad, which includes three players with dual nationality.

Among them is Gessime Yassine, who has impressed this season with Dunkerque, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists.

Morocco will compete in Group B alongside Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Kenya, and Tunisia.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 8, 2025.
