Senegal have secured a place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after recording a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Mali at full-time, BSNSporrs.com.ng reports

The tightly contested quarterfinal encounter saw both sides battle for control, with chances coming at a premium due to disciplined defending and midfield intensity.

However, the reigning African champions found the breakthrough through I. Ndiaye, whose well-taken strike proved decisive.

Ndiaye capitalised on a moment of attacking precision to put Senegal ahead, a goal that ultimately separated the two West African rivals.

Mali pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Senegal’s defence remained resolute, denying the Eagles any clear-cut opportunities.

The win confirms Senegal’s progression to the semifinals, as they continue their quest to retain the AFCON title. Mali, on the other hand, exit the competition after a spirited performance that fell just short on the night.

Senegal will now turn their attention to the semifinals as they await the winner between Cote d' ivoire and Egypt
