Nigeria’s Super Eagles have etched their name into history as the last team to play a competitive match at the Fez Stadium, following their Round of 16 clash against Mozambique at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The encounter marked the final official fixture to be staged at the historic venue before it is shut down for extensive renovations.

 Moroccan authorities have confirmed that the stadium will be closed immediately after the tournament to undergo major upgrades aimed at bringing the facility up to full FIFA standards ahead of 2028.

Fez Stadium has hosted several high-profile matches during AFCON 2025, serving as one of the competition’s key venues.

 Nigeria’s fixture against Mozambique therefore becomes symbolic, drawing the curtain on the stadium’s current chapter after years of service to African and Moroccan football.
