Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed doubts over the availability of Stanley Nwabali and Frank Onyeka ahead of Nigeria’s final Group game against Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Monday, Chelle confirmed that both players are currently nursing injuries and may miss Tuesday’s encounter.

According to the coach, first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is struggling with a knee problem, while midfielder Frank Onyeka has sustained a slight ankle injury.

Chelle noted that the medical team will continue to monitor both players before making a final decision on their participation.

“Nwabali has a knee issue and Onyeka has a slight ankle problem. We will assess them to know the extent of the injuries before the game,” Chelle said.

Nigeria are already pushing for a positive result against Uganda as they aim to finish strongly in the group stage, but the potential absence of two key players could force changes to the Super Eagles’ lineup.

A final call on the duo’s availability is expected to be made after further medical assessments ahead of the match on Tuesday.
