AFCON 2025: Over One Million Fans Attend Tournament So Far
Sampson Adedeji
Attendance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has surpassed the one-million mark, underlining the growing appeal and commercial strength of Africa’s flagship football competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Official figures indicate that more than one million spectators have passed through the turnstiles since the start of the tournament, placing AFCON 2025 within touching distance of setting a new all-time attendance record.
The current benchmark was established at the 2023 edition, which recorded a total attendance of 1,109,593. With just 56,300 additional spectators required to eclipse that figure, the record is expected to be broken as the tournament progresses into the quarterfinal stage and beyond.
High-profile knockout fixtures, increased fan engagement, and improved stadium infrastructure have all contributed to the strong turnout, with organisers confident that the latter stages of the competition will draw even larger crowds.
If current trends continue, AFCON 2025 is on course not only to break the previous attendance record but also to set a new standard for fan participation in African football.
